The Bangalore Turf Club carries with grace, a legacy of over 150 years. But it was officially started in 1920 when four stewards - Major R.H.O.D Paterson, Sir Leslie Miller, Major J.M Holmes and C.N Suryanarain Row met at the grandstand at the High Grounds. Having supported hunting and Polo in the past, the BTC also has played a key role during the war. Laid in a mere 85 acres, it boasts of 1040 stables, an equine swimming pool, training schools, walking rings, a veterinary hospital and an amateur riding school. Bangalore Turf Club operates with ten off-course betting centers with eight of them in Bangalore and one each in Tumkur and Mangalore.
